Empowerment Academy Charter School has zero tolerance for Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB). You can find our Anti-Bullying Policy in the link below. We will continue to review and revise our policies and procedures to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for our scholars.
Each year the Anti-Bullying Coordinator in partnership with the Anti-Bullying Specialists, Leadership and the School Safety Team complete a School Self-Assessment for Determining Grades under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (ABR). The completed Self-Assessment must then be reviewed by the Board of Trustees. This Assessment was developed in response to the requirement within the ABR for school and district grading. Self-Assessment is intended to help schools and districts evaluate efforts in implementing the ABR. Self- Assessment may serve as an opportunity for schools and school districts to reinforce and strengthen HIB prevention and intervention programs, policies and practices.
The Self-Assessment is divided into 8 core elements: HIB Programs, Approaches & Other Initiatives, Training on HIB Policy, Other Staff Instruction & Training, Curriculum & Instruction on HIB, HIB Personnel, HIB Incident Reporting Procedures, HIB Investigation Procedures, and HIB Reporting. You can receive the following rating for each indicator: 0- does not meet the requirements, 1- partially meets the requirements, 2- meets all requirements, or 3- exceeds the requirements.
